About Impact Foiling Ltd
Our History
2001
Impact Foiling was founded by Mick Flay and Gary Plumb, establishing a specialist foiling business focused on quality, innovation, and customer service.
2002
Commissioned a 720 x 1020mm Long Roll Cylinder machine, becoming the first company in the UK to operate this technology.
2004
Expanded operations by relocating to larger premises, doubling the factory floor space to support continued growth.
2005
Further enhanced production capabilities with the installation of a 720 x 1020mm flat-bed machine.
2008
Commissioned a Yuyin flat-bed machine, becoming the first company in the UK to enable foil streaming in two directions.
2010
A landmark year of investment and development:
Commissioned a second Yuyin flat-bed machine.
Installed a fully reconditioned SB cylinder machine.
Recommissioned both 102 cylinder machines following a complete off-site overhaul.
2011
Achieved ISO 9001:2008 accreditation, demonstrating our commitment to quality management.
The company also began operating in accordance with the guidelines stipulated by the British Retail Consortium (BRC).
2015
Expanded our print finishing capabilities with the installation of a Roland 700 four-colour lithographic press featuring a coating unit for full UV and spot UV varnishing.
2016
Commissioned a Compact Foiler, Cold Foil, and Cast & Cure Shimmer Coat unit, becoming the first company in the UK to offer this technology.
2017
Continued investment in production with the installation of an MK Flatbed machine.
2019–2020
Launched a new website and social media presence, modernising our brand and improving customer engagement.
2020
A significant year of leadership transition:
Mick Flay retired after co-founding and helping build the business over nearly two decades.
Marilyn Boon was appointed Managing Director.
Gary Plumb continued in his role as General Manager.
2023
Considerable investment & launch of our brand new die manufacturing facility with the purchase of a Datron CNC machine, enabling us to produce our own brass dies with a vast reduction in lead times.
Today
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the BRCGS AA Grade
for Packaging and Packaging Materials - one of the highest recognitions in our industry.
This certification means that our processes, products, and people meet the most stringent global standards for safety and quality.
For you our valued customers, this certification is more than just a badge - it’s a promise.
It means you can continue to trust that every product we deliver is safe, legal, and of the highest quality.

As part of our on-going business growth plan, it is so good to finally be able to announce such an important goal for myself and the team here at Impact, who have completed the training and installation of our newest addition, on-time and under the allocated budget. A huge thank you to everyone.
